THE DESTINATION

Mukteshwar is a sleepy, little hill town set amongst dense oak forest and terraced
farms about 360 kms from Delhi. A true nature lover’s paradise
it is the perfect destination to relax, rest and reset.

We are located in village Parvada, in Mukteshwar about half a kilometer off the
main road with panoramic views of the Himalayan snow-peaks & the valley.

There is no crowded mall road, no shopping or busy public spaces.
Besides some casual sights, waterfalls & a few cafes,
there is not much for sightseeing in Mukteshwar.

Mukteshwar is a place to enjoy nature, take hikes,
catch up on your reading & spend time with
your friends and family – maybe even yourself.

THE LOFT

Esqape Mukteshwar Loft is a spacious, 900sq ft, pet-friendly cottage
in Mukteshwar, perched at 7,200 ft above sea level with unforgettable
views of the Himalayan snow peaks.

It is a 1 bedroom, first floor apartment with a beautiful wooden
pahadi roof and an attached bathroom.

The living room has a foldout couch for 2 guests and its own small bathroom.
It also has lounge seating with a smart TV, a large balcony overlooking
the snowpeaks and a fully equipped open plan kitchen with a dining table.

We are about 15-30 minutes driving distance from the most popular sites of Mukteshwar, but
at the same time we are secluded from the main highway.

THE BEDROOM

The bedroom is dedicated to seminal poet and writer Gibran Khalil Gibran.

Gibran wrote: “Trees are poems the earth writes upon the sky,
We fell them down and turn them into paper,
That we may record our emptiness”

Inspired by the legendary poet, the loft invites you to enjoy the most
spectacular views of the gorgeous blue sky, the stunning Himalayan peaks and the
beautiful tree laden valley below.

The bedroom has a king size bed, a bathroom and a pinewood pahadi roof.
The expansive windows bring in the soft morning sun and have panoramic views
of the Himalayan snowpeaks, right from your bed.

Getting there:

  • Car: We are about 380 kms from Delhi NCR and 80% of the route is in the plains. Haldwani/Kathgodam is the last town in the plains after that about 70kms is a gradual hilly road. The last 200 meters is a steep but cemented road.
  • Rail | Bus: Kathgodam is the railway station/bus station 70kms from us, with 3 trains and many buses running daily from Delhi. We recommend the Ranikhet Shatabdi. We can arrange a pick and drop service to both at charge.

Air: Closest airport is Pantnagar about 90kms from the house.

Wifi and Mobile networks:

  • We have a dedicated 10 MBPS wi-fi, good enough for WFM and video calls. If you require more bandwidth, that is also possible at extra cost.
  • All mobile networks work better than the plains for calling and data.

Parking & Access:

  • There is parking for 2 cars right next to the house and the house is about 10 gradual steps down and 12 steps up.

ENVIRONMENT POLICY

We are located in an area with a very fine balance of nature.

We respect and love the bounty of nature that Mukteshwar is blessed with and it is our best effort to not harm our surroundings while running a profitable business that generates employment for the locals. In fact, we try to positively affect the surroundings by our actions.

  • Rainwater harvesting: 15,000 litre rainwater harvesting tank that is fed with rain water captured from our pahadi roof through a gravity filtration system.
  • No plastic water bottles: We don’t serve water in single use virgin plastic water bottles.
We use only reusable water bottles.
  • Garbage management: Almost all hospitality businesses in Mukteshwar region dump their garbage on the side of the hills or burn it. But we segregate at source and give the organic vegetable waste to the farmers nearby for their cattle.
All in-organic plastic waste is collected and disposed off once a month to the closest dumpster 35kms away at our own cost.

THINGS TO DO IN MUKTESHWAR

  • Birding: Mukteshwar is a birder’s paradise with more than 100 resident and migratory birds inhabiting the forests around the cottage.
You don’t need much, a good binocular, a field guide of your choice and start right at your cottage.
  • Studying local flora: If you are interested in plant life then Mukteshwar can keep you occupied for days.
Each coming season brings its unique beauty to the landscape with lush green monsoons to rust red autumns and vibrantly colorful spring and summer.
January to March is a unique time to witness the blooms of the Himalayan Rhododendron trees that cover the forest floor in crimson red.
  • Treks, hikes and walks: All around the cottage there are beautiful hikes and treks you can enjoy, from a casual walk to a day long intense trek.
Not only good for your health, but these hikes around the cottage into the oak forest are truly the essence of Mukteshwar.
  • Local sightseeing: Mukteshwar Dham temple, Chauli ki Jaali and KMVN snowpeak viewpoint, Bhalugarh waterfalls are some of the popular sights, but we recommend avoiding visiting on the weekends as they get really crowded.
The travel guide will have Google locations and details of all sightseeing in Mukteshwar and nearby.
  • Swimming in natural spring water: One of the most unique experiences of Mukteshwar is a relaxing swim in one of its waterfall pools. The Himalayan spring water gushing down the hills is an amazing way to wash away your stress and stiffness.
Check with us about some of the secret spots to enjoy your swim without crowds.
  • Fruit picking: You can lend a hand and help us pick the fruits in the orchard if you happen to be visiting during harvest season. No discount for your day’s labour though 🙂

Bindiya Deora

Beautiful property surrounded by lush greens, quite nicely maintained and away from all the hustle, with breathtaking views of Trishul and Nanda Devi.

Heena Arora

We were determined to take this property through Airbnb when we first saw it. And were struggling to book the dates as it was packed every single day. That made us more curious about it and we kept checking on an hourly basis then.

Himraj Singh

The cottage is very cute with a splendid view of the snow capped peaks. Just don’t miss the sunrise. And also, the beautiful waterfall down the village for which we had to take this lovely trail through the forests and villages.
