THE ESTATE

Esqape Paniyali is a true experience of a secluded and private holiday home near Bhimtal,
nestled deep in nature.

 

The 25 acres estate includes 4 villas/cottages, a swimming pool, beautiful gardens, terraced
farms & orchards, all hidden inside a dense oak and pine forest.

 

12 kms from Bhimtal, the estate is located in village Paniyali Lagga, 30-45minutes or 1.5
kilometers hiking into the forest on a kacha/stone forest trail.

 

On arrival, our team will meet you on the main road and escort you to the estate on foot.
The hike requires a moderate to good level of fitness.

 

It is the perfect weekend getaway near Bhimtal, best suited for 8 to16 pax i.e. large families or a
group of friends, who want to spend some time in nature.

THE RESIDENCES

 

The Estate has 4 residences:

 

1. The Dak Bungalow – 2 BHK villa

2. The Swiss Chalet – Large 1 bedroom studio

3. The Pinewood – 1 bedroom cottage

4. The Hideout – 1 bedroom cottage

 

all about a stone’s throw from each other.

 

The estate also comes with a rare experience of a swimming pool in the hills.

 

NOTE: You can book the whole property privately or book any one residence. If you book one 

villa/cottage, the rest of the property will be open to other guests.

The Dak Bungalow, which can host 4-8 guests, is a spacious and rustic, British-era style
bungalow with expansive lazy verandas.

 

Ground floor: The ground floor has 1 bedroom with an ensuite bathroom, a spacious
open plan-fully equipped kitchen, dining and living area.

 

The living area has a fireplace, lounge seating, smart TV and bar. A bunk bed, ideal for children
& young adults, is cozily tucked away in one corner of the living room.

 

First floor: From the double height living area there is a flight of wooden stairs to the first floor,
where there is another large bedroom with an ensuite bathroom.
The first floor is capped with a wooden pahadi roof and covered verandas so big, you can fit a
family of elephants and more.

 

Verandas: The extra large covered verandas in this villa, followed by the beautiful gardens and
the pool, make for the perfect location for peaceful early morning meditation, barbeque and
drinks with friends or some personal time with a book during sunset.

The Swiss Chalet – Inspired by the pinewood chalets of the European alps, the Swiss Chalet is

a large, luxurious and stylish cottage, suitable for a couple.

 

Clad with pinewood and with a pahadi roof, the chalet is a large studio with a bedroom+open

plan kitchen, a bar style dining table, smart TV, fireplace and attached bathroom.

 

Verandas: Outside there are expansive & inviting verandas with lounge seating to enjoy the

sunset, the rolling clouds or the monsoon rains.

 

The Pinewood, which can accommodate 2-4 guests, is a beautiful and cozy cottage, clad with

local pinewood.

 

The cottage has 1 bedroom, a small kids room with a bunk bed, and an ensuite bathroom.

 

The bedroom comes with a large bed, lounge seating with a fireplace, large windows

overlooking the veranda, gardens and the valley. No Tv.

 

Verandas: Outside the cottage there are expansive verandas that open up to terraced gardens,

the Gaula valley and the swimming pool deck.

 

NOTE: The Pinewood is on the ground floor of a 2 floor structure. Above the Pinewood is the

Swiss Chalet, with its own separate entry and verandas.

Hideout, the 1 bedroom cottage, tucked away in a peaceful corner of the estate that borders the
forest area, can host 2 guests comfortably.

 

The cottage has 1 bedroom with an attached bathroom, a fireplace, skylight, smart TV, attached
kitchen and large covered verandas overlooking the Gaula river valley.

 

Altogether the 4 residences, swimming pool and the beautiful gardens nestled inside a dense
oak forest make for a peaceful, secluded and private holiday home experience near Bhimtal.

THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK

Meals:

  1. All meals are included i.e. breakfast, lunch and dinner.
  2. Drinks, tea, coffee and barbeques can be ordered separately at charge.
  3. All villas come with fully equipped kitchens available for guest use. Please bring your own ingredients if you wish to cook for yourself.
  4. Our kitchen serves delicious home-cooked meals and local Kumaoni cuisine.
  5. Last min FnB requests are NOT possible. All ingredients have to be purchased from the local bazaar which is about 1 hour walking, please let us know beforehand if you have any special requirements.
  6. Bill for F&B needs to be paid the night before check-out.

Wifi and Mobile networks:

  1. Wifi is provided via JIO and Airtel dongles, which is good for WFM and video calls. You can also use your mobile hotspot.
  2. All mobile networks work better than the plains for calling and data, with uninterrupted  and full 4G speeds.

Parking & Access:

  • There are 2 options for parking. Firstly, on the main road parking spot of the property where the estate’s owners park their vehicles. Secondly, 200meters from the meeting point at a local guest house and dhaba which is also available as accommodation for your drivers.

House Rules:

  1. Check in: 14:00
    Check out: 10:00
    Please respect the Check-in and Check-out time. We need 4 hours to reset the villas. Early check-in and late check-out are subject to charge.
  2. No Noise: You are welcome to enjoy your time at the cottage, but we do not allow loud music or unruly behavior of any kind. 
  3. Staff will be available from 08:00-22:00.
  4. Pet friendly: Pets are welcome and let us know beforehand if you are bringing a pet. You are expected to clean up after your pets. Any damages caused will be chargeable. Please bring their beds and food bowls. Food can be provided at charge.
  5. Property is strictly non-smoking. You may smoke outside. Smoking inside will attract heavy fines.
  6. Fireplace: is chargeable Rs 500/use. The caretaker will give a firewood good for 1.5 to 2 hours. Wood is a very expensive item here. It has to be purchased from the plains and transported to the bungalow. CAUTION: Once you are done with the fireplace, please make sure to extinguish the flames & embers with water.
  7. Water & hot water: Please do not waste water, it is a very limited resource in the hills.
  8. Break it-Buy it: You are liable to pay for any damages caused to the property during your stay.

Getting there:

 

The Hike:  We are located in village Paniyali Lagga, inside a dense oak forest, 1.5kms or 30-45 mins walking into the forest on kacha/stone trail from the main road.

 

Paniyali is 12kms from Bhimtal on the Bhimtal-Padampuri-Mukteshwar Highway.

 

Once you reach the meeting point on the highway, our team will guide you through the forest trail and carry your luggage.

 

Healthy adults and kids with basic to medium physical fitness can easily cover the hike in 30-45mins, however it is NOT recommended for people with knee, heart or any critical/chronic

health issues.

 

  1. Car: We are about 330 kms from Delhi NCR and 80% of the route is in the plains.
    Haldwani/Kathgodam is the last town in the plains, after that about 40kms is a very gradual hilly road.
  2. Rail | Bus: Kathgodam is the railway station/bus station 40kms from us, with 3 trains and many buses running daily from Delhi. We recommend the Ranikhet Shatabdi. We can arrange a pick and drop service to both at charge.
  3. Air: Closest airport is Pantnagar airport, about 70kms/3hours with flights from Delhi and then Bareilly airport which is 150kms/4-5hrs with flights from Mumbai, Bangalore etc.

Accommodation:

  1. Book the estate privately or book a villa: You can book the entire estate privately, if you are a group of 8-16 pax or book anyone of the residences if it’s 2-6 people. If you book one of the residences then the other
    residences will be open for other guests and the estate will not be available privately.
  2. No of Guests: We can accommodate up to 16 guests. The Dak Bungalow can host 8pax, 4 guests on double beds, 2 on a bunk bed and 2 on extra beds. Swiss Chalet can host 2 guests, Pinewood 4 guests, 2 on a double
    bed and 2 on a bunk bed and the Hideout can take 2 guests on a large double bed.
  3. No AC: We do not have an air conditioner at the property as none is required.
  4. Not a Hotel: It is our best effort to give you the highest level of service, but you are booking a property in a secluded location, about 45 mins walking into a forest from main road and then 1-3 hours away from any big town. Repairs and other services can sometimes take many days to reach. Please remember this before booking.
  5. We have Smart TVs with Netflix, Amazon Prime.

THINGS TO DO IN PANIYALI

1.Birding: Paniyali is a birder’s paradise with more than 100 resident and migratory birds inhabiting the forests around the cottage. You don’t need much, a good binocular, a field guide of yourchoice and start right at your cottage.

 

2.Studying local flora: If you are interested in plant life then Paniyali can keep you occupied for days. Each coming season brings its unique beauty to the landscape with lush green monsoon to rustred autumn and vibrantly colorful spring and summer.

 

January to March is a unique time to witness the blooms of the Himalayan Rhododendron trees that cover the forest floor in crimsonred.

 

3.Treks, hikes and walks. All around the cottages, there are beautiful hikes and treks you can enjoy, from a casual walk to a day long intense trek. Not only good for your health, but these hikesaround the estate into the oak & pine forest are truly the essence of Paniyali.

 

4.Local sightseeing: You can enjoy a hike to the ridge atop the hill, the estate is located on or a trek down to the Gaula river valley.There is ample sightseeing nearby in Bhimtal, Nainital, Mukteshwar etc.
